In August, the Institute for Materials undertook an excursion to thyssenkrupp steel in Duisburg. As part of the “Steel in Transition” plant tour, insights into the steel production of today and tomorrow were provided and the impressive plant site was visited. The excursion concluded with a joint lunch, which the Institute's employees also used as an opportunity to get to know each other better and exchange ideas outside of everyday university life.
