Hign nitrogen steels

In the past, nitrogen-alloyed steels have been the driving force behind the development of stainless steels and are now increasingly being used in industrial applications. Following on from the scientific advancement of nitrogen-alloyed steels at the LWT, their processing with the help of laser-based additive manufacturing processes represents a focus of research at the chair. The combination of the excellent mechanical and chemical properties of high-nitrogen stainless steels and the high degree of design freedom of additive manufacturing processes holds the prospect of demanding applications, e.g. in medical technology.
